Epiphany at the subway doors
A crazy rush through the subway doors because the operator rings the door
closing chimes too soon, usually about 10 seconds after the doors first open
Those trying to push their way off and those trying to push their way on
None of us we’ll ever quite reach the place we need to reach
Steps away from a closing door or a disappearing train
We’ll miss the connection someplace
This is in or around “rush hour” in the morning, that dim, diminutive place.
