free of any light

held so tightly, can’t breathe or speak
next to that
next to that
working on a line that goes on forever
playing tropes with a dead man’s rope
next to that
next to that
falling onto the tracks
a shove in the back
or tripping down an escalator
or drunkenly anticipating the moves of the other
the mirror moves of the other
but still falling
over the lip
into the pendulum of the train coming down the tracks
the words too fragile and god knows too late
