The 10th
Anniversary of Gutter Press
I said hello to Larry Gaudet, Michael Mortensen (who’s real name is John something). I talked briefly to Barb Leslie, and her husband Tim Horton, and Steven Manners who looks like Tim Horton, and Sam Hiyate’s friend the intellectual property lawyer who owns the high score in a pinball game.
I gave her my business card; she stood so close almost inviting me to kiss her. I almost did then we sort of backed off each other. Gabriella took that opportunity to say good night. I ended up talking some more to Michael Mortensen and another Nicole (in her twenties, very pretty, with an aquiline nose). Nichole Aubin was supposed to read but didn’t bring anything to read. (Later I found her blog on line.) She was all over the place intellectually but a brightness too, referencing Eliot (‘I memorized Ash Wednesday when I was 15’),Foucault, Pound and Wordsworth. She has a poetry book coming out with Gutter, something about a bird in the title. She selected a Picasso painting for her book cover, had to pay $1000 for the rights.
